If It Weren’t for Those Racist Deplorables!
Democrats in denial and in disarray after the latest elections
Now that the dust has settled, it’s clear that the GOP did fairly well in last week’s elections. Republican contenders won some uphill races in blue states and districts Biden took handedly a year ago, and even in some races where Democrats won, they won on thinner margins. One of the biggest upsets was Republican Glenn Youngkin’s victory over Democrat incumbent Terry McAuliffe for governor in Virginia, a state that went blue a year ago. Another noteworthy story is the Republican Edward Durr, a truck driver who spent $153 and beat the incumbent Democrat who just happened to be the New Jersey Senate president. And even though the Republican candidate for governor lost in New Jersey, the razor thin margin of victory put the Democrats on notice in a deep blue state.
Of course, each race is partially determined by race-specific factors like local issues, unique candidates, and newsworthy scandals. The overall political and economic climate also plays into local and state races, and as we know, the cost of living is beginning to skyrocket while Biden and Harris’ approval ratings are beginning to tank. So last week’s election isn’t only a repudiation on those in the White House, but also a rejection of local leaders pulling a Laverne and Shirley driving us all off a cliff. This is evident in cities like Minneapolis voting down measures to defund the police.
But these aren’t the only items of interest. I think most commentators and pundits are missing the most compelling thing about the latest election— how Democrats are dealing with the fallout at the polls. Here’s their true colors they are showing in the wake of their electoral defeats:
Dog whistles! All the dog whistles!
If I had a dollar for every time I heard a left-leaning professor or pundit claiming that something was a dog whistle for the worst of the right (i.e., racists, sexists, homophobic, white supremacists etc.), I could afford to buy them all an actual dog whistle so they could see how one actually works.
So, for those of you unfamiliar with the term, a dog whistle is a coded message that only the speaker’s followers can understand that seems harmless to everyone else. The problem is that only leftist talking heads seem to know when a conservative is using a dog whistle. As such, they would need to explain why they can detect dog whistles not meant for them and prove that those targeted with the dog whistle message actually understood the message’s true meaning.
And just let me say, as someone who has been right of center in very liberal environments in the Pacific Northwest since high school, I can’t think of any time I ever received a “dog whistle message” from someone on the right. I don’t know, maybe I’m just on the wrong frequency, but it seems to me these liberals with allegedly supersonic hearing are crying wolf.
So, how is this relevant to the last election? It’s relevant because liberals across the major news networks are saying that the conservative and independent outcry against critical race theory (CRT) is apparently a dog whistle for… white supremacists and racists. That’s why Youngkin won in Virginia. Yep! And then some leftists want us to believe that CRT is not being taught in schools, even though its theories are the bedrock of teaching statements and lessons.
If race-based teaching is so good, the left should defend it, not deny it. Instead they pee on our legs and tell us it’s raining. And they use megaphones to do so. Makes me wonder what their dog whistles are…
It’s all the COVID feelings, guys.
It should come as no surprise that some in the media blame the disappointing election results for the Democrats on COVID-19 fatigue. It would be more accurate to say that people are sick of the policies intended to contain and combat COVID-19, but I digress. In any case, the ways in which COVID-19 has affected public education has ticked a lot of people off, and they punished the Democrats for that. But Democrats shouldn’t be to blame.
Never mind that Americans oppose the far-left immigration policies Democrats are pushing down our throats. Most voters blame Biden’s policies for skyrocketing inflation, don’t support the defunding of police, and disapprove of Biden’s handling of the economy, the border, gun violence, taxes, and Afghanistan (based on a ABC News/ Ipsos Poll). According to the same poll, a majority of Americans do approve of Biden’s response to COVID-19, although that is also declining. So, I don’t think COVID-19 is the problem. It seems like the outright rejection of radical, ridiculous policies is a better explanation for the decline of the Democrats. And we all know what “Let’s Go, Brandon!” really means. C’mon, man!
I’m just waiting for them to take a page out of Hillary Clinton’s book and blame the Russians, Twitter, Cambridge Analytica, white women, Bernie, the New York Times (who endorsed her, by the way), content farms in Macedonia…
You just can’t make this stuff up… unless you’re irrationally motivated to deny responsibility for your own lousy policies.
The stupid deplorables just don’t get it.
When President Clinton’s party lost seats in the midterm election during his term, his response was “I feel your pain.” Clinton partnered with Republicans like Speaker Gingrich and governed as a moderate, which explains in part why we long for the 1990s these days.
When the same thing happened to President Obama, he told us “To everyone who voted, I want you to know that I hear you. To the two-thirds of voters who chose not to participate in the process yesterday, I hear you, too.” I guess Obama would rather represent those who didn’t vote against him and his policies. And he actually denied that those who did vote voted in repudiation of his policies.
And Biden? He says we don’t understand supply chains, that the government doesn’t want to give reparations away to illegal immigrants (which it does), and simply said “People just want us to get things done.” Speaker Pelosi claims that if only the Democrats had passed the infrastructure bill before the election, the results would have gone in their favor. And now they have passed it with money we don’t have as inflation has already reached a 30 year high, but that’s another can of worms.
This sea change from the Clinton-era Democrats to the 21st century party of woke leftist activists is more than troubling. Elected officials are supposed to be responsive to the will of the people and recognize that most of the time losing elections is the way the people reject policies. Instead, those on the far left call their fellow citizens on the right “deplorables,” the unreachable dregs of society that are mired in white supremacy. Irredeemable deplorables are why those good, woke Democrat candidates lost. These people can’t understand that someone might vote for Youngkin or Trump because they like their ideas and are sick of the establishment that does nothing but ignores them at best and makes their lives harder at worst.
It’s clear that too many in charge see the “deplorables” as “expendables.” No matter which party wins or loses, no one should have that kind of contempt for their fellow citizens. And no politician should have that much disdain for the people he or she claims to represent. All of us should demand better because it’s an out of touch ruling class that is truly acting in deplorable ways, and when it comes to the office they hold, they are the expendable ones.
